LIVE MUSIC LIKE NEVER BEFORE!

STREAMLAND LAUNCHED TO SHOWCASE UK ARTISTS GLOBALLY VIA LIVE STREAMING

A UK-based platform for online broadcasting of gigs has launched thanks to Arts Council England’s financial support of digital events.

Streamland is an online hub for live streaming and on-demand broadcasting developed for venues wishing to reach audiences globally while supporting the provision of live music during and after COVID-19 restrictions.

The service was established by the Music Venues Alliance in partnership with Brighton-based TV, magazine, live venue, and news organisation The Latest. Performances and tickets for shows will be available via TicketCo Media Services integrated HD quality pay-per-view live streaming and ticketing service.

All 900 UK venues registered with the Music Venues Alliance can partner with Streamland and deliver unique and specialist content digitally via the hub.

Bill Smith, CEO of The Latest, said Streamland’s launch will help music venues across the UK upscale audience engagement via hybrid events breaking down barriers which previously prevented people from attending gigs.

“Streamland will create a community where gig-goers and music venues can meet digitally to enjoy the best music the UK has to offer,” said Bill.

“Hybrid events are the future. Already, some music venues are preparing to deliver physical and digital events once COVID-19 restrictions ease. Streamland can facilitate that delivery by marrying artists and venues with viewers via one online hub.

“The Latest has 21 years of experience working as a news outlet and TV production company, Streamland represents the biggest shift in event delivery during that time. We’re excited to partner with Music Venues Alliance and TicketCo Media Services to showcase the talent of Britain’s best up and coming bands to a global audience.”

Venues that have already signed up to Streamland’s digital hub include Vortex Jazz Club in London, The Mill in Bradford and Leeds’ Brudenell Social Club.

Performances will be filmed and broadcast on location or in The Latest’s’ green screen studio or live music venue. Streamland will also broadcast musicals with Julie Burchill’s Hard Times on Easy Street and Brighton Rock by Bill Kenwright to feature this summer.

Bill added: “People will, understandably, want to go out when restrictions ease which is great for venues. What Streamland can do is further monetise performances by reaching out to audiences unable to attend events due to health, travel or financial reasons.

“I don’t see hybrid events as detrimental to a live show, in my opinion digital events act as an add on that can help young artists reach thousands of people across the world rather than hundreds in one venue.”

Streamland marks the second time The Latest has partnered with TicketCo Media Services to deliver events digitally. In October last year, music venues in Brighton programmed a series of hybrid gigs to protect the city’s vibrant music scene via Live is Alive.

David Kenny, Head of Global Partnerships at TicketCo Media Services, said: “Streamland is an excellent opportunity for the live music industry and is a fantastic way for artists to showcase themselves globally. Streamland is about creating an online community for the live music industry.

“Live is Alive provided the people of Brighton and further with a positive and engaging live music experience both physically and digitally. The success of those performances has fuelled viewers’ confidence in our live streaming model.

“We’re working closely with The Latest and Music Venues Alliance to ensure audiences enjoy a seamless user experience.”
